The 10mm x 22mm diameter quality mini suction cups with hooks are ideal for display or when hanging small sun catchers, small ornaments, crystals or fairy lights.
The 22mm hooks are rated to hold 1/2 pound (0.22kg) in weight. That will be plenty strong enough for all our hanging crystals. But if you want to hang a particularly big one, like a 50mm sphere or a 89mm teardrop, say, you might feel happier with a 32mm one.
The 10mm x 32mm diameter suction cups with hooks are great when you are hanging something a bit heavier or you feel a little bit apprehensive about using a smaller one. This size is rated to hold 1 pound (0.45kg) in weight. And since the weight ratings tend toward the conservative, you can see that this is a mighty beast indeed.
Both have a strong rustproof metal hook.

For suction cups to work on smooth, slick/shiny surfaces like glass, there are the two main forces that make it possible - gravity and friction.
Gravity pulls the molecules in the air towards earth, creating an atmospheric pressure of roughly 14.7 pounds per square inch at sea level.
When a suction cup is pushed onto a glossy, non textured, non porous surface, the air underneath is expelled and a vacuum is created. As there is now no air pressure acting under the suction cup, only atmospheric pressure is being applied to the outside of the cup, so pushing it down onto the surface. Friction keeps the cup from sliding.
