A stone pestle and mortar suitable for preparing herbs, resins and incenses, beautifully carved from Burma Teak.
Burma Teak is a type of metamorphic marble-like limestone, and gets its name from the resemblance of the stone to Burma Teak wood. It is a beautifuly marked stone with veins and many warm tones of browns, tans, beiges and taupes. The stone has a wonderful tactile satiny feel.
The mortar (the bowl part) is 75mm (7.5cm or 3 inches) high and 75mm (7.5cm or 3 inches) in diameter.
The pestle is 95mm (9.5cm or 4 and 3/4 inches) long.
A pestle and mortar has been the traditional way to grind and prepare herbs, gums, grains and incense since antiquity.
