Spirit Board Trinket Box

A trinket box in the shape of a planchette.
It's decorated with the traditional lettering and symbols from a spirit board and has a small circle of mirror in the centre of the lid.
It is made from cast resin and measures 13cm (5 inches) by 11cm (4 and 1/4 inches) and is 5.5cm (2 and 1/4 inches) deep.
Spirit boards soared in popularity during the boom in spiritualism in the early 20th century. They all share common features - the Yes and No, the numbers and the letters of the alphabet. A planchette is the heart-shaped device used to point to the letters or numbers.
