Wheel of the Year Bronze Wall Ornament
£44.90
Sorry to say we're sold out of these, but new stock is expected towards the end of August.
Absolutely lovely wall ornament. The eight spokes of the wheel are each engraved with the name of a festival, and around the rim of the wheel are beautifully sculpted flowers, fruits and foliage, representing each celebration. You can see some detailed photographs of this if you look on the image carousel.
The wheel is cast in resin with a polished bronze finish. The back is covered in a velvet fabric to protect your wall finish. A brilliant feature is the array of hooks for hanging on the back of the plaque. Eight are spaced around the hub of the wheel, which means you can rotate it as you move through the festivals of the year. Look at the final picture on the carousel to see this.
A beautifully made and substantial item; the wheel is 265mm (26.5cm or 10 and 3/4 inches) in diameter.
From antiquity, people have celebrated the ever-turning wheel of the year in eight festivals that mark important points in the cycle: the two solstices and the two equinoxes, and four cross-quarter days dividing the time between them. These festivals are common across many pagan traditions, including the Druidic, Wiccan, Celtic and Norse (Asatru) paths.
